Wellington College in Berkshire is one of the great national boarding schools. The College is proud of a fine tradition of service and of its Royal connections. It stands in an attractive 400 acre woodland estate in Crowthorne, Berkshire; the buildings, as well as extensive playing fields, are all in the estate and within easy walking distance of each other.

Welcome to the English Residential Schools website for the Southern Summer School 2008, which this year is being held from Saturday 9th to Saturday 16th August at Wellington College, near Crowthorne, Berkshire.

The programme for the school follows the pattern first presented at last year's summer schools and now adopted as the programme for summer schools for the remainder of the 5 year plan. It consists of plenary talks in the morning as well as courses and classes for everyone to attend that take up the rest of the morning and the first part of the afternoon. The rest of the afternoon is taken up with workshops, sports and swimming or just relaxation. The evenings are given over to entertainment, such as dances, quizzes and the ever popular talent show.

The theme of the school is "Our Mission: Building a World Civilisation" and both the plenary talk and all the courses and children's classes are based on topics that support this all-enbracing theme. The theme is further supported by plenary talks every day on the subject "The Will and Testament of Abdu'l-Baha."

We hope that you will once again enjoy this year's summer school and look forward to seeing you there.
